Then We drowned the disbelievers.

And His words: ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الآخَرِينَ ("Then We drowned the others"). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: then, when We had saved Nūḥ and his family from the tremendous trial, We drowned whoever remained of his people.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd [related to us], saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الآخَرِينَ ("Then We drowned the others"), he said: Allah saved him and whoever was with him in the ship, and drowned the rest of his people.
