And it is transmitted: "lā yaqrif" with the rafʿ; and the rafʿ is the dialect of the people of the Ḥijāz, according to what has been said. And Qatāda said concerning this something:
Bishr related to me, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda لا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلإ الأعْلَى (they do not listen attentively to the highest assembly): he said: it is forbidden to them. And He means by His saying إلَى المَلإ (to the assembly): to the host of the angels who are higher than those who are below them.
And His saying وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ * دُحُورًا (and they are pelted from every side, driven away). And they are pelted from every side of the sides of heaven, driven away (duḥūran).
And al-duḥūr is a verbal noun (maṣdar) from your saying: daḥartuhu adḥaruhu daḥran wa-duḥūran; and al-daḥr is the pushing away and removing. One says concerning that: idḥar ʿanka al-shayṭān, that is to say: push Satan away from you and remove him.
And in the sense of what we have said concerning this, the scholars of exegesis spoke.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ * دُحُورًا (and they are pelted from every side, driven away): pelted with the flaming firebrands.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us, both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His saying وَيُقْذَفُونَ (and they are pelted): they are pelted مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ (from every side): he said: from every place.
