The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ("Shall we then not die?") (37:58).

He — exalted be His mention — says this, reporting the saying of this believer upon whom Allah has bestowed the honors in His paradise (janna), out of joy on his part over what He has given him therein: أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ * إِلا مَوْتَتَنَا الأُولَى ("Shall we then not die, except for our first death?"). He says: shall we then not die, other than our first death in the worldly life?
