White and delicious to the drinkers;

And His statement bayḍāʾa ladhdhatin lil-shāribīna ("white, a delight to the drinkers"): by "white" (al-bayḍāʾ) the cup (al-kaʾs) is meant, and because al-kaʾs is feminine, "white" was put in the feminine form (bayḍāʾ) and He did not say "abyaḍ" (masculine). And it has been mentioned that in the reading of ʿAbdullāh this reads: "ṣafrāʾ" (yellow).
Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to us, he said: Aḥmad related to us, he said: Asbāṭ related to us, on the authority of al-Suddī, concerning His statement bayḍāʾa: al-Suddī said: in the reading of ʿAbdullāh: "ṣafrāʾ" (yellow).
And His statement ladhdhatin lil-shāribīna ("a delight to the drinkers"): He says: this wine (khamr) is a delight which those who drink it enjoy.
