The discourse on the interpretation of His statement, the Exalted: إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ ("Verily, your God is One") (37:4).
He — exalted be His mention — means by His statement إِنَّ إِلَهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ ("Verily, your God is One"), by وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا ("By those who range themselves in ranks"): verily, your worshipped One, who rightfully demands of you — O people — worship (ʿibāda) and the pure devotion of obedience to Him, is One, with no second alongside Him and no associate. He says: so purify worship for Him alone, devote Him alone in obedience, and ascribe to Him no associate in your worship of Him.
