Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,

The statement concerning the explanation of His words, exalted is He: إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الأَلِيمِ (38) ("Verily, you shall taste the painful punishment") (38)
He, exalted is His mention, says to these polytheists (mushrikīn) among the people of Mecca, who said of Muḥammad: a possessed poet: ( إنَّكُمْ ) ("verily, you"), O polytheists, ( لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الألِيم ) ("shall taste the painful punishment"), the agonizing one, in the Hereafter.
