The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ("but they denied it — so they will soon know") (170).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: when, then, the Reminder from Allah came to them, they denied it, and that is their unbelief (kufr) toward Muḥammad — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — and toward that which he brought them from Allah of revelation and Scripture. Allah says: so they will soon know — when they are brought to Me — what punishment (ʿadhāb) there is for them on account of their denial thereof.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes have spoken.
