The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ ("Or did We create the angels female while they were witnesses?") (37:150).
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, means: Or did these speakers among the polytheists (mushrikīn) witness that the angels are the daughters of Allah — that I created the angels and that I created them female — so that they bore witness to this testimony and described the angels as female?
