The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: Wa-āyatun lahumu l-arḍu l-maytatu aḥyaynāhā wa-akhrajnā minhā ḥabban fa-minhu yaʾkulūn "And a sign for them is the dead earth, which We brought to life and from which We brought forth grain, of which they eat" (36:33).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And a proof for these who assign partners, of the power of Allah over what He wills, and of His bringing back to life whoever of His creatures has died, and His restoring it after its decay, in the same form as before its death, is His bringing to life the dead earth — that in which there is no plant and no vegetation — by the rain that He sends down from the sky until its vegetation comes forth. Then His bringing forth from it the grain that is food and sustenance for them, of which they eat.
