Discussion of the explanation of His, the Exalted, words: (31) (And that which We have revealed to you of the Book, that is the truth, confirming what came before it. Indeed, Allah is, concerning His servants, truly All-Aware, All-Seeing.)
He, exalted is His mention, says: (And that which We have revealed to you of the Book), O Muḥammad — and that is this Qurʾān which Allah sent down to him — هُوَ الْحَقُّ (that is the truth). He says: it is the truth, and it is your duty and the duty of your community to act according to it and to follow what is in it, and not the other books that were revealed to others than you. مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ (confirming what came before it). He says: it confirms what came before it and what existed prior to it of the books that I sent down to the messengers who were before you.
As Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His words (And that which We have revealed to you of the Book, that is the truth, confirming what came before it): for the books that came before it.
And His words إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِعِبَادِهِ لَخَبِيرٌ بَصِيرٌ (Indeed, Allah is, concerning His servants, truly All-Aware, All-Seeing). He, exalted is His mention, says: indeed, Allah is, toward His servants, Possessor of knowledge and acquaintance with what they do, All-Seeing over what brings them to well-being in governance.
