The explanation of the word of the Exalted: If He wills, He makes you pass away and brings forth a new creation (16)
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: if He wills, your Lord makes you pass away, O people, because He brought you forth without having any need of you. (And He brings forth a new creation) — He says: and He brings forth a creation other than you, one that obeys Him and follows His command and refrains from what He has forbidden them.
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word ( If He wills, He makes you pass away and brings forth a new creation ) — that is to say: and He brings forth others than you.
