The explanation of the word of the Exalted: قُلْ لا تُسْأَلُونَ عَمَّا أَجْرَمْنَا وَلا نُسْأَلُ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ (25) Say: you will not be questioned about what we have done wrong, and we will not be questioned about what you do (25)

He, exalted is His mention, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: say to these polytheists (mushrikīn): one of our two groups is upon guidance and the other upon error; you will not be questioned about the crime that we have committed, and we will not be questioned about the work that you carry out. Say to them: our Lord will gather us together to Himself on the Day of Resurrection, and then He will judge between us according to the truth — He says: then He will judge between us with justice, and then it will become clear which of us is the rightly guided and which the one in error. (وَهُوَ الْفَتَّاحُ الْعَلِيمُ) And He is the Judge, the All-Knowing — He says: and Allah is the Judge, who judges with knowledge between His creatures, for no hidden thing remains concealed from Him, and He has no need of witnesses to make Him know the just from the unjust.

And in the spirit of what we have said concerning that, the exegetes have spoken.

    * Mention of who said that:
