In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.

فِي أَدْنَى الأرْضِ ("in the nearest land") (30:3) — from the land of al-Shām (Syria) to the land of Persia. وَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ غَلَبِهِمْ ("and they, after their defeat") — He says: and the Romans, after Persia has defeated them, سَيَغْلِبُونَ ("shall overcome") — Persia.
