And of His signs is that the heaven and earth remain by His command. Then when He calls you with a [single] call from the earth, immediately you will come forth.

The statement concerning the interpretation of His word, the Exalted: وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّمَاءُ وَالأَرْضُ بِأَمْرِهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً مِنَ الأَرْضِ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ (25) ("And among His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand firm by His command; then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, behold, you come forth.")
Allah, whose praise is exalted, says: And among His proofs, O people, of His power over whatever He wills, is the standing firm of the heaven and the earth by His command, in submission to Him through obedience, without pillars that you can see; ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً مِنَ الأرْضِ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ ("then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, behold, you come forth") — he says: behold, you come forth from the earth, when He calls you with a single call, responding to His call to you.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation have spoken.
* Mention of those who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّمَاءُ وَالأرْضُ بِأَمْرِهِ ("And among His signs is that the heaven and the earth stand firm by His command") — they both stood firm by His command without pillars; ثُمَّ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ دَعْوَةً مِنَ الأرْضِ إِذَا أَنْتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ ("then, when He calls you with a single call from the earth, behold, you come forth") — he said: He called them, and they came forth from the earth.
It was related to me, on the authority of al-Ḥusayn, saying: I heard Abū Muʿādh say: ʿUbayd informed us, saying: I heard al-Ḍaḥḥāk say concerning His word: إِذَا أنتُمْ تَخْرُجُونَ ("behold, you come forth") — he says: from the earth.
