The explanation of the words of the Exalted: كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ ("Every soul shall taste death; then to Us you shall be returned") (29:57).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says to the believers among the companions of His Prophet: emigrate (hājirū) from the land of polytheism (shirk), from Mecca to the land of Islam, Medina; for My earth is wide. So persevere in My worship and devote your obedience purely to Me; for you shall die and return to Me. Indeed, every living soul shall taste death, and thereafter, after death, you shall be brought back to Me. Then He informed them, praised be His praise, about the honors He has prepared with Him for those among them who persevere in His obedience.
