The explanation of the statement of the Exalted: وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ("And [remember] Ibrāhīm, when he said to his people: Worship Allah and fear Him. That is better for you, if only you knew") (29:16).
The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Remember also, O Muḥammad, Ibrāhīm, the intimate friend of the Most Merciful, when he said to his people: Worship Allah, O you people, and nothing other than Him, of the idols and the carved images, for there is no god for you except Him. واتقوه ("and fear Him") means: and guard yourselves against His wrath by performing His obligations and avoiding acts of disobedience toward Him. ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ("That is better for you, if only you knew") — that which is better for you than that which is worse for you.
