The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ ("And Allah will surely know those who believe, and He will surely know the hypocrites") (29:11).

The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, says: And Allah will surely know the allies of Allah, and His party, the people of faith in Allah among you, O you people, and He will surely know the hypocrites (al-munāfiqīn) among you, until each group among you is distinguished from the other group, by Allah's bringing that forth from you through trials, testing, and examination, and through the haste of the one among you who hastens toward the emigration (hijra) out of the land of shirk to the land of Islam, and the sluggishness of the one among you who shrinks back from it.
