Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers.

His word أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ الْعَذَابِ ('these are the ones for whom the worst punishment is destined'): Allah, exalted is His remembrance, says: these who do not believe in the Hereafter, for them is the worst punishment in the world — and they are those who were killed at Badr from among the polytheists (mushrikīn) of Quraysh.
He says: and they, on the Day of Resurrection, are those whose merchandise is the most loss-making and the least in worth, because they purchased error in place of right guidance — فَمَا رَبِحَتْ تِجَارَتُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا مُهْتَدِينَ ('so their trade brought no profit and they were not rightly guided').
