Allah, exalted be His mention, says: وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا دَاوُدَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ عِلْمًا — and that is the knowledge of the language of the birds and the animals, and other matters with which Allah had specially favored them through His knowledge. وَقَالا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ — Allah, praiseworthy is His laudation, says: and Dāwūd and Sulaymān said: all praise is due to Allah Who has favored us with the knowledge that He bestowed especially upon us — above the rest of His creatures from among the children of Ādam in our time — above many of His believing servants in our era.
