Tafseer of The Poets · Ash-Shu'araa · 26:221
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

Allah, exalted is His praise, says: هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ — O people — عَلَى مَنْ تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ from among mankind? تَنَزَّلُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ — that is to say: a great liar and slanderer — أَثِيمٍ — that is to say: a great sinner.
In accordance with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) spoke in a corresponding sense.
* Mention of who said this:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid.
