And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

His statement: وَلا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ — he says: do not touch her with anything that would harm her, such as cutting off her legs, killing her, or anything of the sort.
In accordance with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes also spoke.

Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, concerning وَلا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ : do not cut off her legs.
His statement: فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ — he says: then the punishment of a day whose punishment is tremendous will descend upon you from Allah.
