And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.

And His saying: وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ (And when you seize, you seize as tyrants): that is, when you use violence, you use violence by killing with the sword and striking with whips.
As al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, saying: Ibn Jurayj said concerning وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ : "The killing with the sword and whips."
