۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ

They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"

    The Exalted — praised be His mention — says: the people of Noah answered him in response to his words to them: إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ * فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ (Truly, I am to you a trustworthy messenger, so fear Allah and obey me) — they said: shall we believe you, O Noah, and acknowledge that you speak the truth in what you call us to, while only the lowly among us have followed you and not the people of standing and the prominent families?

    يقول تعالى ذكره: قال قوم نوح له مجيبيه عن قيله لهم: إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ * فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ قالوا: أنؤمن لك يا نوح, ونقرّ بتصديقك فيما تدعونا إليه, وإنما اتبعك منا الأرذلون دون ذوي الشرف وأهل البيوتات.
