ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِى سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍۢ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ۚ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ فَسْـَٔلْ بِهِۦ خَبِيرًۭا

He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed.

    The Exalted and Praised says: وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ (and put your trust in the Living One Who does not die) الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ (Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days). And He said وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا (what is between them) — in the singular — even though He had mentioned the heavens and the earth, and "the heavens" is a plural. That is because He related this to two kinds and two things, as al-Qaṭāmī said:

    "Has it not grieved you that the ropes of Qays and Taghlab have come apart from one another, broken?"

    He means: and the ropes of Taghlab; and he used the dual (tathniyah) even though "ropes" (ḥibāl) is a plural, because he meant the two kinds and the two types. And likewise it is in the Qurʾān: الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا (Who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them), for He directed this toward the two characteristics.

    And His word: فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ (in six days) — it has been said that the beginning of it was on Sunday, and its completion on Friday. ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ الرَّحْمَنُ (then the Most Merciful rose over the Throne) — he means: then the Most Merciful rose up over the Throne and exalted Himself above it, and that was on Saturday, as has been transmitted. And His word: فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا (then ask One who is fully informed of it) — he means: then ask, O Muḥammad, one who is fully informed about the Most Merciful, who is fully informed about His creation, for He is the Creator of everything and nothing of what He has created is hidden from Him.

    And in agreement with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (the exegetes) spoke.

    The report of whoever said that:

    Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, concerning His word فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا (then ask One who is fully informed of it): he said: "it means that Allah says to Muḥammad ﷺ: when I inform you of something, then know that it is as I informed you — I am the fully Knowing (al-Khabīr)." And al-khabīr (the fully Knowing) in His word فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا is in the accusative as a circumstantial qualifier (ḥāl) of the personal pronoun in His word bihī.

    يقول تعالى ذكره: وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ ( الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ) فقال: ( وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ) وقد ذكر السماوات والأرض, والسماوات جماع, لأنه وجه ذلك إلى الصنفين والشيئين, كما قال القطامي: ألَـــمْ يَحْــزُنْكَ أنَّ حِبــالَ قَيْسٍ وتَغْلِــبَ قَــدْ تَبايَنَتــا انقِطاعــا (1) يريد: وحبال تغلب فثنى, والحبال جمع, لأنه أراد الشيئين والنوعين. وقوله: ( فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ) قيل: كان ابتداء ذلك يوم الأحد, والفراغ يوم الجمعة ( ثُمَّ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْعَرْشِ الرَّحْمَنُ ) يقول: ثم استوى على العرش الرحمن وعلا عليه, وذلك يوم السبت فيما قيل. وقوله: ( فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا ) يقول: فاسأل يا محمد خبيرا بالرحمن, خبيرا بخلقه, فإنه خالق كلّ شيء, ولا يخفى عليه ما خلق. وبنحو الذي قلنا في ذلك، قال أهل التأويل. * ذكر من قال ذلك: حدثنا القاسم, قال: ثنا الحسين, قال: ثني حجاج, عن ابن جُرَيج, قوله: ( فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا ) قال: يقول لمحمد صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا أخبرتك شيئا, فاعلم أنه كما أخبرتك, أنا الخبير، والخبير في قوله: ( فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا ) منصوب على الحال من الهاء التي في قوله به. ------------------------ الهوامش: (1) البيت للقطامي ، وقد سبق الكلام عنه مفصلا ، والشاهد فيه هنا : أن الشاعر قال : "تباينتا" بالتثنية ، مع أن حبال جمع حبل . والمسوغ لذلك : أن حبال قيس جماعة ، وحبال تغلب جماعة أخرى ، فعاملهما في إعادة الضمير عليهما معاملة المفردين ، ومثله في القرآن : { الذي خلق السماوات والأرض وما بينهما} لأنه وجه ذلك إلى الصفتين .
