Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised,

Allah — exalted is His mention — says to His prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Say, O Muḥammad: Lord, if You show me what You promise them of Your punishment against these polytheists (mushrikīn), then do not let me perish along with those whom You cause to perish, and save me from Your punishment and Your wrath, and do not make me one of the polytheists, but make me one of those with whom You are pleased among Your allies.
