And, [O Muhammad], say, "My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful."

He, exalted be His remembrance, says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: and say, O Muḥammad: Lord, cover my sins through Your forgiveness of them, and have mercy upon me through Your acceptance of my repentance and Your refraining from punishing me for what I have done wrong. وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ (and You are the best of the merciful) — He says: and say: You are, O Lord, the best of those who show mercy to a sinner, accept his repentance, and do not punish him for his sin.
