Tabari

Tafseer of The Believers · Al-Muminoon · 23:116

So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth; there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.

Tabari (1 passage)

  1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

He, exalted be His remembrance, says: exalted is Allah, the King, the Truth, above what these polytheists (mushrikīn) ascribe to Him — namely, that He has a partner — and above what they attribute to Him of taking daughters. لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ (there is no god but He) — He says: there is no object of worship deserving of worship apart from Allah, the King, the Truth. رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ (the Lord of the noble Throne) — "al-Rabb" is in the nominative as an apposition to "al-Ḥaqq" (the Truth), and the import of the text is: exalted is Allah, the King, the Truth, the Lord of the noble Throne — there is no god but He.
