Tabari

Tafseer of The Pilgrimage · Al-Hajj · 22:64

To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth. And indeed, Allah is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.

Allah, exalted is His mention, says: To Him belongs the dominion over all that is in the heavens and on the earth; they are His slaves (ʿabīd), His possessions, and His creation. He has no partner in it, nor in any part of it. And Allah is without need of all that is in the heavens and on the earth among His creatures, while they are the ones who are in need of Him. He is Praised by His servants on account of His favours to them and His benefactions toward them.
