1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

   Allah, exalted is His remembrance, says: A part of the people of Ibrāhīm said to another part: Burn Ibrāhīm in the fire وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ (and help your gods, if you are going to do anything) — He says: if you wish to support them and you do not wish to abandon their worship.

   And it has been said that the one who said this was a man from the Kurds of Persia.

   Mention of who said this:

   Yaʿqūb related to me, saying: Ibn ʿUlayya related to us, on the authority of Layth, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His words حَرِّقُوهُ وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ: he said: A man from the Bedouins of Persia said it — by which the Kurds are meant.

   Al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, who said: Wahb ibn Sulaymān informed me, on the authority of Shuʿayb al-Jubaʾī, who said: The one who said "Burn him" was "Hayzun". Allah caused the earth to swallow him up, and he keeps sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection.

   Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Salama related to us, on the authority of Ibn Isḥāq, who said: Nimrūd and his people came to a decision concerning Ibrāhīm and said: حَرِّقُوهُ وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ — that is to say: you cannot support them except by burning him in the fire, if you truly wish to support them.

   Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Salama related to us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq related to me, on the authority of al-Ḥasan ibn Dīnār, on the authority of Layth ibn Abī Sulaym, on the authority of Mujāhid, who said: I recited this verse to ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar, and he said: "Do you know, O Mujāhid, who it was that proposed the idea of burning Ibrāhīm in the fire?" He said: I said: "No." He said: "A man from the Bedouins of Persia." I said: "O Abā ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, do the Persians have Bedouins?" He said: "Yes, the Kurds are the Bedouins of Persia, and a man from among them was the one who proposed the idea of burning Ibrāhīm in the fire."

   يقول تعالى ذكره: قال بعض قوم إبراهيم لبعض: حرّقوا إبراهيم بالنار ( وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ ) يقول: إن كنتم ناصريها، ولم تريدوا ترك عبادتها. وقيل: إن الذي قال ذلك رجل من أكراد فارس. * ذكر من قال ذلك: حدثني يعقوب، قال: ثنا ابن علية، عن ليث، عن مجاهد، في قوله: ( حَرِّقُوهُ وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ ) قال: قالها رجل من أعراب فارس، يعني الأكراد. حدثنا القاسم، قال: ثنا الحسين، قال: ثني حجاج، عن ابن جُرَيج، قال: أخبرني وهب بن سليمان، عن شعيب الجبئي، قال: إن الذي قال حرّقوه " هيزن " فخسف الله به الأرض، فهو يتجلجل فيها إلى يوم القيامة. حدثنا ابن حميد، قال: ثنا سلمة، عن ابن إسحاق، قال: أجمع نمرود وقومه في إبراهيم فقالوا( حَرِّقُوهُ وَانْصُرُوا آلِهَتَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ ) أي لا تنصروها منه إلا بالتحريق بالنار إن كنتم ناصريها. حدثنا ابن حميد، قال: ثنا سلمة، قال: ثني محمد بن إسحاق، عن الحسن بن دينار، عن ليث بن أبي سليم، عن مجاهد، قال: تلوت هذه الآية على عبد الله بن عمر، فقال: أتدري يا مجاهد من الذي أشار بتحريق إبراهيم بالنار؟ قال: قلت لا قال: رجل من أعراب فارس. قلت: يا أبا عبد الرحمن، أو هل للفرس أعراب؟ قال: نعم الكرد هم أعراب فارس، فرجل منهم هو الذي أشار بتحريق إبراهيم بالنار.
