قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ — He says: those who heard him say وَتَاللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَامَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا مُدْبِرِينَ said: we heard a young man mentioning them with slander, who is called Ibrāhīm.
As al-Qāsim related to us, saying: al-Ḥusayn related to us, saying: Ḥajjāj related to me, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, concerning قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ : Ibn Jurayj said: "he mentions them" — that is to say: he slanders them.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Salama related to us, on the authority of Ibn Isḥāq, concerning His words سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ : we heard him slandering them, disparaging them and mocking them — we have heard no one else say that except him, and he is the one whom we suppose did this to them.
