Tabari (1 passage)

  1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

Allah, exalted be His praise, says: We gave Mūsā and Hārūn the Furqān — the Reminder which We gave them — for the God-fearing (muttaqīn), those who fear their Lord in the unseen, that is to say: in this world, out of fear that He will punish them in the Hereafter when they appear before Him on account of their having neglected the obligations He had imposed upon them. Out of their reverence for Him they scrupulously observe the limits He has set and His obligations. And they are apprehensive and afraid of the Hour at which the Resurrection takes place, fearful that it should come upon them while they are standing before their Lord and have fallen short in the duties that Allah had imposed upon them, so that He punishes them with a punishment they cannot bear.
