The Exalted says: those for whom the good has preceded from Us do not hear the hissing (ḥasīs) of the Fire; and by ḥasīs is meant: the sound and the sensation (al-ḥiss).

Should someone say: how then do they not hear its hissing, when one knows what has been transmitted — that Hell will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection and will then heave a deep sigh, after which there will remain no angel brought near (malak muqarrab) nor sent prophet (nabī mursal) but that he falls upon his knees out of fear of it? — then the answer is: the state in which they do not hear its hissing is a state other than that one. It is rather the state of which we were told by Muḥammad ibn Saʿd, who said: my father related to me, who said: my uncle related to me, who said: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word لا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا وَهُمْ فِي مَا اشْتَهَتْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ خَالِدُونَ: he said: "The people of the Garden (janna) do not hear the hissing of the Fire when they take up their dwelling in the Garden."

And His word وَهُمْ فِي مَا اشْتَهَتْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ خَالِدُونَ means: "And they abide eternally in what their souls have desired of its delights and pleasures, without fear of its ceasing or of transition to something else."
