[Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray,

The Exalted says: the worshippers of the calf among the people of Mūsā said: لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ — "We will most certainly not cease to remain devoted to it (in worship) until Mūsā returns to us."
