From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time.

مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ (20:55)
(From it We created you.)
Allah the Exalted says: from the earth We created you, O people, and We formed you into speaking bodies.
وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ (and into it We shall return you):
He says: and into the earth We shall return you after your death, and We shall change you into dust, just as you were before Our creating you as an upright human being.
وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ (and from it We shall bring you forth):
He says: and from the earth We shall bring you forth, just as you were alive before your death; We shall revive you in it, just as We revived you the first time.
تَارَةً أُخْرَى (another time):
His statement تَارَةً أُخْرَى means: another time, as in:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَى : he said: another time.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His statement تَارَةً أُخْرَى : he said: another time — the second creation.
Abū Jaʿfar says: the meaning of the sentence is then: from the earth We brought you forth while you were nothing, as a complete creature; and We shall bring you forth from it again after your death another time, just as We brought you forth from it the first time.
