The explanation of the words of Allah the Exalted:

(He said: And what then is the state of the former generations?)

Allah the Exalted says: Pharaoh said to Moses, after Moses had described his Lord — may His glory be magnified — with tremendous sovereignty and the abundance of His bounties to His creatures and His favors: And what then is the state of the former peoples before us, who did not acknowledge what you say and did not believe in what you call to, and did not worship Him sincerely, but instead worshiped gods and idols besides Him — if the matter is as you describe, namely that all things are His creation and revolve within His bounties and move within His favors?
