The explanation of the words of Allah the Exalted: إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَى (20:38)
(That was the moment when We revealed to your mother what was revealed.)
This concerns the moment when We revealed to your mother — when she gave birth to you in the year in which Pharaoh killed every newborn boy of your people — that which We revealed to her. Then Allah the Exalted clarified what He had revealed to her mother, and said: it was that she should cast him into the ark. The particle "an" (أن) stands in the accusative case as the object, as a reference to the word "mā" (ما) in the expression مَا يُوحَى (what was revealed), and forms an explanation of it.
