Concerning His word لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا الْكُبْرَى ("that We might show you something of Our greatest signs"): Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: And press your hand against your side, O Mūsā — it will come forth radiantly white, without ailment — that We might show you something of Our greatest proofs of the greatness of Our dominion and Our power. He said "al-kubrā" in the singular form, although He had previously said "min āyātinā" — just as in لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى ("To Him belong the most beautiful names") — and We have already explained that in its proper place. Some grammarians of Baṣra said: "al-kubrā" was used in the singular because precedence was intended by it; the meaning according to them is then: "that We might show you the greatest of Our signs."
