And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.

His statement: وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِلرَّحْمَنِ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًا ("It does not befit the Most Merciful to take a child") — that is to say: it does not befit Allah to take a child, for He is not like the creatures who are overcome by desires and compelled by pleasure to have intercourse with women; and no child comes into being except from a woman, whereas Allah is exalted above being equal to His creatures. This is like the saying of Ibn Aḥmar:
"Upon the summit of a smooth, lofty rock of Hanqāʾ that towers high, There befits not (mā yanbaghi) beneath it any plain nor any mountain."
That is to say: there is no room for it and it is not possible.
