Allah, exalted be His remembrance, says: وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُ (and he used to command his household) with the performance of الصَّلاةِ the ritual prayer (al-ṣalāh) and وَالزَّكَاةِ the giving of the obligatory alms (al-zakāh). وَكَانَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِ مَرْضِيًّا (and with his Lord he was one who attained good pleasure): his deed met with approval and was praised in that which his Lord had charged him with, without his falling short therein in obedience.
