So when they had passed beyond it, [Moses] said to his boy, "Bring us our morning meal. We have certainly suffered in this, our journey, [much] fatigue."

The explanation of the meaning of the words of Allah the Exalted: فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَا قَالَ لِفَتَاهُ آتِنَا غَدَاءَنَا لَقَدْ لَقِينَا مِنْ سَفَرِنَا هَذَا نَصَبًا (verse 62)
Allah the Exalted says: When Mūsā and his young attendant had passed beyond the junction of the two seas, Mūsā said to his young attendant Yūshaʿ: آتِنَا غَدَاءَنَا — that is: bring us our midday meal and hand it to us. He said "āti-nā ghadāʾanā" just as one says: "the food has come" and "I brought the food" — comparable to "he went" and "I made him go." لَقَدْ لَقِينَا مِنْ سَفَرِنَا هَذَا نَصَبًا: that is: we have encountered from this journey of ours toil and weariness. Mūsā said this — so it has been reported — after he had passed beyond the rock, when hunger was cast upon him so that he would remember the fish and return to the place of his search.
