The discourse on the explanation of the saying of the Exalted: نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ آمَنُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَاهُمْ هُدًى (We relate to you their tidings in truth. They are young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.) (13)
The Exalted says to His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: We, O Muhammad, relate to you the account of these young men who fled to the cave, in truth — that is to say: with sincerity and certainty concerning which there is no doubt. إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ آمَنُوا بِرَبِّهِمْ — He says: the young men who fled to the cave and about whom the assembly of the polytheists among your people asked you, are young men who believed in their Lord. وَزِدْنَاهُمْ هُدًى — He says: We increased them, in addition to their belief in their Lord, in faith and deep insight into their religion, so that they patiently persevered in leaving the land of their people, fleeing from amongst them with their religion to Allah, and abandoning the ease and comfort of the life that they had, for the hardship of dwelling in the cave of the mountain.
