Tafseer of The Night Journey · Al-Israa · 17:89

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِى هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍۢ فَأَبَىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًۭا

And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind] of example, but most of the people refused [anything] except disbelief.

    He – exalted is His mention – says: And indeed We have set forth for mankind in this Qurʾān every kind of parable, as a proof thereby against them, and as a reminder for them, and as a warning concerning the truth, so that they might follow it and act in accordance with it. (فَأَبَى أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلا كُفُورًا) He says: yet most people refused anything but denial of the truth and rejection of the proofs and signs of Allah.

    يقول ذكره: ولقد بيَّنا للناس في هذا القرآن من كلّ مثل ، احتجاجا بذلك كله عليهم، وتذكيرا لهم، وتنبيها على الحقّ ليتبعوه ويعملوا به ( فَأَبَى أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلا كُفُورًا ) يقول: فأبى أكثر الناس إلا جحودا للحقّ، وإنكارا لحجج الله وأدلته.
