Tafseer of The Night Journey · Al-Israa · 17:87

إِلَّا رَحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُۥ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًۭا

Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.

    Allah, Exalted and Mighty, says: And surely, if We willed, We would take away that which We have revealed to you — O Muḥammad — but He does not will that, out of mercy from your Lord toward you and as a favor from Him to you. Indeed, His favor to you is great — by having chosen you for His messengership, having sent down His Book to you, and all His other benefits which cannot be counted.

    يقول عزّ وجلّ وَلَئِنْ شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ يا محمد بِالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ ولكنه لا يشاء ذلك، رحمة من ربك وتفضلا منه عليك ( إِنَّ فَضْلَهُ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيرًا ) باصطفائه إياك لرسالته، وإنـزاله عليك كتابه، وسائر نعمه عليك التي لا تحصى.
