Allah, exalted is His praise, says, informing His creatures of His proof against them concerning His oneness, and that divinity belongs to Him alone: Your Lord, O people, created the heavens and the earth in truth — that is, with right — as the Sole One in their creation, without any associate having assisted Him therein in their creation and bringing into being, and without any helper having helped Him therein. How, then, could He have an associate? تَعَالَى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ — Allah, exalted is His praise, says: Your Lord, O people, is exalted above your shirk (associating partners with Allah) and your claim that there exists a deity besides Him. He is exalted above having an equal, an associate, or a helper, for there is no deity except the One who creates and brings into being by His power, such as the heavens and the earth, and who brings bodies into existence and creates them out of nothing. And that is within the capacity of none but Allah, the One, the Overwhelming, whom alone it befits to be worshipped, and to whom alone divinity belongs and to none other than Him.
