Allah, exalted is His mention, says: These polytheists (mushrikīn) — whose qualities I have described to you, O people, in these verses — they are the people upon whose hearts Allah has set a seal, after which He has closed them up with His seal, so that they do not believe and do not find guidance. He has made their hearing deaf, so that they do not hear the caller of Allah to guidance. And He has blinded their eyes, so that with those eyes they do not see the proofs of Allah in the manner of one who reflects and takes a lesson. وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ — He says: and these people in whom Allah has placed these deeds, they are the heedless ones — oblivious to what Allah has prepared for the likes of them among the disbelievers (kuffār), and to what is intended for them.
