And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

Allah, may His mention be exalted, says: and these polytheists (mushrikīn) of your people said to you, O Muḥammad: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نـزلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ — "O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down" — that is the Qurʾān, in which Allah has set down the admonitions for His creation — إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ — "You are surely possessed" in your call to us to follow you and to abandon our gods.
