[Jacob] said, "Indeed, it saddens me that you should take him, and I fear that a wolf would eat him while you are of him unaware."

The explanation of the words of Allah the Exalted: قَالَ إِنِّي لَيَحْزُنُنِي أَنْ تَذْهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَأَنْتُمْ عَنْهُ غَافِلُونَ (He said: "Truly, it saddens me that you should take him away, and I fear that the wolf may devour him while you are heedless of him.") (verse 13)
Abū Jaʿfar says: Allah the Exalted says: Yaʿqūb said to them: Truly, it saddens me that you should take him away with you into the wilderness, out of fear that the wolf may devour him, while you are heedless and do not notice it.
