And His word: إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّاهٌ مُنِيبٌ (Indeed, Ibrāhīm was forbearing, full of contrition, and ever-returning to Allāh) — He, exalted be His mention, says: Ibrāhīm was slow to anger, humbling himself before his Lord, reverent toward Him, obedient to His command; and مُنِيبٌ (munīb) means: constantly returning to obedience to Him, as in:

18349 — Al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz related to us, saying: Isrāʾīl related to us, on the authority of Abū Yaḥyā, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning أَوَّاهٌ مُنِيبٌ : he said: "Al-qānit: the one who continually returns."

And we have already expounded the meaning of "al-awwāh" in what has preceded, with the disagreements of those who differed and the proofs for what, in our view, is the correct of the two opinions — in a manner that makes repetition unnecessary.
