The exposition of the explanation of the words of Allah the Exalted:
Abū Jaʿfar says: By His word Allah the Exalted means that the ark sails with Nūḥ and those who are with him; فِي مَوْجٍ كَالْجِبَالِ — amid waves like mountains; وَنَادَى نُوحٌ ابْنَهُ — that is: Yām; وَكَانَ فِي مَعْزِلٍ — he was far away from him, he had not gone with him onto the ark; يَا بُنَيَّ ارْكَبْ مَعَنَا — board the ark with us; وَلا تَكُنْ مَعَ الْكَافِرِينَ — and do not be among the unbelievers (kāfir).
