The exposition of the interpretation of the words of Allah the Exalted: إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ (4) — "to Allah is your return, and He is over all things Almighty"
Abū Jaʿfar says: Allah the Exalted says: إِلَى اللَّهِ — to Allah, O people, is your return and your final destination. So beware of His punishment if you turn away from what I command you, namely the repentance to Him from your worship of gods and idols, for He will make you abide forever in the Fire of Hell if you die while clinging to your polytheism (shirk) before repenting to Him. وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ — that is to say: He is able to bring you back to life after your death, to punish you on account of your ascribing partners to Him in the form of idols, and whatever else He may will with you and with others.
